If so, then join us for the 3rd annual Great Lakes of Utah Relay race. The race goes from Lake Point Utah to Saratoga Springs Utah by way of Middle/Butterfield canyon. The event day is Saturday September 22, 2012. Start time will be determined by the teams estimated minutes a mile entered in on registration form. Awards will be presented at the Inlet Park in Saratoga Springs during the meal provided by Great Lakes of Utah (4:30 PM to 5:30 PM).
Each team will consist of anywhere from 1 to 10 members who will each take turns running various lengths in order to complete the 49.3 mile journey. Each team is allowed as many support vehicles as needed. The first vehicle will drop off the first runner, provide support and direction to the runner then drive ahead to the first exchange point. Then they will drop off the second runner and pick up the first runner. They will repeat this pattern until they hand off to the second vehicle. This leapfrogging pattern will continue all the way to the finish line.
There are only three rules:
Rule #1 - the team’s slap bracelet must be transported by running and/or by walking.
Rule #2 - must follow the proscribed route. Short cuts will be penalized 12 minutes for every mile.
Rule #3 - no exchanges allowed on the first 2.7 miles into Salt Lake County (Butterfield Canyon Rd) and no exchanges from Willow Park to the finish line. Otherwise, exchanges can be made at any time and at any place.
Teams will be on there own from start to finish. This is a self guided event. The number of teams are limited so start getting your team together today! Team registration deadline is Monday September 10, 2012. No refunds will be given after the the registration deadline date.The Cost is $20 for each team member. Team captains will receive an email confirming their start time once the registration form and payment is received. Each team member will receive an award and a meal at the completion of the race.
